The Army killed my hearing...my eye sight sucked from the beginning!

my hearing was off a little, but they absolutely DESTROYED my right wrist.. was doing PT two or three times a day when we got this new Squad leader when I was a private. He had us doing two to three HUNDRED push ups daily. We'd do 100 pull ups. We'd do log carries, squats, hundreds of sittups and more.. it was hellacious, but I was in incredible shape. Then one day my wrist completely gave out on me - it had been sore for a while, but usually could ice it and be good- when I was opening the refrigerator at home of all things, and it knocked my ass to the floor it hurt so bad! My wife had taken me to the ER at Ft. Belvoir, and I took sick-call the next day. They gave me 800mg motrin and told me to drink water. No duty for 24 hours, and a week long profile. Which... didn't do me any good since I was in the Old Guard at Ft. Myer and I was on the Colors team. Either lose my spot on the team, or suffer through the pain. So I continued on like that for about a year before I got off Active Duty. About 2 years later, after I'd had enough of the pain, I finally went and saw a 'real' doctor and they told me that the ligament had been severed completely!! I had surgery in april of 2008 to correct this and my wrist no longer just "HURTS" - it hurt 24/7 and like hell too - but now it's kinda numb and if I tweak it wrong, it kills.
It has taken me a long time to get full control and use out of it, but it was worth it.

In the end, I've been declared a disabled veteran and I am rated at 20%. I'm pretty damned sure that if I were to take my perscription for my glasses to the VA, they'd up it to 30% since the Army swore up and down that I had perfect vision before I entered, and I complained of vision loss repeatedly to no avail while I was in. They just want to know if you can tell if there are letters at all on the card.. not that you can read them. ugh...

I am looking at a bit of disability when I retire...I had a spinal fusion in my neck after realizing I had issues in Drill School just over 2 years ago...that's why I am a Staff puke now working a computer instead of leading men in the mountains!

I always found the high road to be the best in the end. Talk to him, ask questions, be eager to get information from him, and at first it'll shock him, then it'll annoy him and then he'll find someone else to screw with. Works everytime.
