well ive gotten the unofficial word that i have been selected for promotion to staff sergeant. my line number is 175 so i will be pinning on oct 1. im so relieved that its finally here! this is year 12 for me, so if i didnt get it now, i only had one more chance before i was forced out of the corps. got in some trouble back in 2002 which has been holding me back. i guess they finally figured i learned my lesson (been passed over since 2007) and decided i was worthy of joining the snco ranks.

Congrats!! I almost wonder if I'd be an E6 or an E7 if I had stayed in sometimes.. guess I'll never know!!

for me this was a long time coming. i originally picked up E5 in sept 01. lost it in may 02. didnt get it back until july 04. and got passed over 2 times for E6. this year marks my 12th in the military. an E5 can only complete 13 years in the corps. so basically i couldnt reenlist until i got promoted. if i got passed this year, i would have had to do an extension for a year to take me to 13 years and that would be my last shot at getting promoted...or me getting out. so glad i was selected and am able to reenlist now!

I hear ya man...I have been busted three times...all from E-4 down to E-1. I finally wised up and quit doing stupid shit on my off time...that's why I am an E-6 with 15 years service right now.
